Faculty Workload Report

Faculty Workload: Simon Fraser University

A Report from the SFUFA Advisory Committee on Faculty Workload to the SFUFA Execuitve (2011)

"The general consensus both academically and anecdotally is that academics are living and working in a time in which their roles are increasingly unclear and their multiple demands overwhelming. As a response to these concerns, the SFUFA Workload Advisory Committee was formed in the fall of 2007 to examine the issue of faculty workload at SFU and to make recommendations to the Executive Committee. The major sources of information for this report were responses to a survey questionnaire administered online between March 14 and March 31, 2008 and completed by 315 SFU faculty association members, and responses from two focus group discussions: one with non-or pre-tenure faculty, and one with tenured faculty on May 21 and May 22nd 2008, respectively. Responses from both sources were analyzed to identify key themes, observations and concerns."
