Introductory Information

The SFU Faculty Association is a legally recognized bargaining agent for faculty and librarians. Certified as a union in 2014 our members’ employment is governed by a Collective Agreement.

Terms and conditions of employment have been historically contained in university policies, some of which were de-facto agreements and subject to negotiation, but some of which were not. Many of these policies will remain in effect, providing greater detail than the Agreement. It is the Agreement, though, that is legally binding, and to which all policies must defer.

Should you have any questions regarding the agreements or policies provided here, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You may also find further information on policies and employment matters through SFU’s Human Resources and Faculty Relations offices.
