Since the spring semester of 2020, the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has brought about multiple unforeseen changes in the higher education sector. Shortly following the outbreak, the Simon Fraser University Faculty Association (SFUFA) started hearing from its members about the professional and personal impacts that COVID-19 was having on them. Members’ concerns were echoed in an informal survey conducted by Academic Women at SFU. Following a conversation between SFUFA and Academic Women, it became clear that a more formal process was needed to understand and assess the range of impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on faculty members.
