SFUFA has a committee dedicated to Human Rights and Equity. It’s mandate is to monitor issues of human rights and equity at the University and within the Association, propose policy changes, advise the SFUFA Executive on any matters requiring attention, and conduct its own research and member-engagement initiatives as appropriate to do its work.
Among the issues that the Cmte has worked on recently are:
SFU and SFUFA’s joint salary gender equity study, its recommendations, and their ongoing implementation, details of which are available here;
SFU’s development of a new Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy, whose process can be followed here.
The Equity Committee also maintains a blog, which can be found here.
The Committee is comprised of representatives of the various Faculties and a number of members at large, and is chaired by a member of the SFUFA Executive, as per its Terms of Reference.
